SERVER AND WORKSTATION SETUP

Setup server as follows:  WORKGROUP – NOT A DOMAIN
Name of workgroup:  EMEDICAL
Name of server: SERVER
TCP/IP address of server:  192.168.1.99

Create APPS and AppsONCE folders on c:\ drive

Share c:\apps and c:\appsONCE

Create group EMEDICAL
Make every user we created a member of EMEDICAL group:  ADMINISTRATOR, DIEGORA, TCSP, SUPERVISOR, REMOTE1 TO REMOTE3, BACKUP

REMOTE1 TO REMOTE3 - make sure REMOTE CONTROL is allowed and does not require the users permission

DO NOT GIVE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT TO USER...USE SUPERVISOR at the server and create user profile.

Grant full access to EMEDICAL group to C:\apps and C:\appsONCE folder

Setup CopyToC.bat in Task Scheduler at 6:00 am at the server!

Run MS Windows Automatic Updates at 3:00 a.m.

Did you create the ERD (emergency repair disk)

Format each Backup external hard drive MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAY (in uppercase), and label it.

Create user SUPERVISOR with ADMINISTRATOR RIGHTS on the file server and workstations

Show user how to backup / sign on as SUPERVISOR

Setup each PC as 192.168.1.101 PC Name: Workstation1  User Name: Supervisor

Create labels for each computer and tape it on the right side of the monitor:  Label contains Workstation1 and IP Address

Install MS Access and Run Updates

Install ARC32 and MediDocs

Setup Advantage database using ADS configuration utility table definitions ON SERVER as follows: 200 (users times 10), 1200, 200, 150, 400 may vary from practice to practice 

Make sure that the server has NORTON ANTIVIRUS installed

Install MS Windows Defender all all Workstation (NOT THE SERVER)

Make sure that all ports are closed on ROUTER and only 3389 forwards to file server port UDP and TCP enable to 192.168.1.99

Install Modem on PC that is going to submit the electronic claims and/or Eligibility

Increment the number of licenses for file server.  Control Panel /Licensing Per Server / Add Licenses / 40

Load Master UReports for Medisoft

Load HOW TO documents in c:\Apps\How To

COPYTOC.BAT, PrepareServerbackup.BAT, are set to read-only on SERVER\APPS

There is a UPS setup on file server

Make sure all workstations have NORTON ANTIVIRUS or NORTON INTERNET SECURITY

Install TCSP Background
Regedt32 - HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT\CONTROL PANEL\DESKTOP - WALLPAPER.  SERVER  PC1  PC2  PC3  PC4  PC5  PC6  PC7  PC8  PC9  PC10

Install Acrobat reader on all PCs.  SERVER  PC1  PC2  PC3  PC4  PC5  PC6  PC7  PC8  PC9  PC10

Install Acrobat Standard for scanning.  SERVER  PC1  PC2  PC3  PC4  PC5  PC6  PC7  PC8  PC9  PC10

If using LPT1 for prining make sure LPT1 has checked USE ANY INTERRUPT ASSIGNED TO THE PORT / ENABLE LEGACY P&P DETECTION (LPT1)

Write with a sharpie or not erasable marker on each CD any S/N, validation code or any other information needed to install the program in case paper certificate gets lost

Change password for the DSL/CABLE router

Install l electronic claims module on PC that is going to submit electronic claims

Disable power save mode on router

Create folders using Go.Bat file under C:Apps\ medidata\ pratice name\emc\ emc saved reports. server  PC1  PC2  PC3  PC4  PC5  PC6  PC7  PC8  PC9  PC10

Create shortcut on workstations to emc saved reports folder PC1  PC2  PC3  PC4  PC5  PC6  PC7  PC8  PC9  PC10

Create the following folder: Apps\Medisoft Data Dictionary folder
Make a copy of the following files into this folder: mwddf.add    -  mwddf.ai    and mwddf.adi
from Apps\Medidata\xxxxxxx -----> practice data folder

Once is done, did you sign in using remote1 to 3 and Supervisor on server so the profile is accurate and runs for each user that is going to be logging into the system at the file server

Setup doctor for OnCallData - eprescribing

Download DataRunner from OnCallData on server

Setup Temporary Server with Backup unit at it. Name it SERVERTemp

Setup Temporary backup script on Temporary server PC (SERVERTemp)

Setup "EMC Saved Reports" folder under the EMC saved reports folder. 

Create EMC Saved Reports shortcut on desktops - use the Updates.bat file to do this

Create folders for years, months under EMC Saved Reports - run go.bat to do this from inside the EMC Saved Reports - You must map a drive to a letter before running the go.bat

 Medical Edge

Did you setup Medical Edge on a different computer and not the file server – Win200 (DO NOT)

Did you create the icon on Workstation 1 (server using Medical Edge) to copy data to server at the end of the date into C:\APPS\MEDBAK

Did you show the user how to copy the medical edge data at the end of the day to the server

Icon on the screen, make sure is set to: IDLE SENSITIVITY all the way to the right or a little before it

Make sure MS-DOS spooling is not checked for the printer – LPT1 port

Make sure that there is a 10/100 switch and not a 10/100 hub.

Make sure 10/100 switch is not connected to UPS…only to surge protector or directly to wall
